Lesson 9 Practice: Typical Progressions

In Lesson 9, we learned about some typical chord progressions. In these Practice Exercises, we are going to play through each of the three progressions in each of the keys.

.

Click the "Worksheets" button to view and print the worksheet we will be using in these exercises. For each key, you will need to fill in the chords for each of the three progressions. You should fill in the chart before listening to the audio clips.

.

Along with each audio clip, I have provided a filled-in version of the three typical progressions. You can use this to check your answers on the worksheet. You may want to use the Major Scale Chart to help you fill in the typical progressions; if so click here to view and print a copy.

.

By the way, the audio clips for this lesson are quite long, and they may take a little while to load (and the whole practice lesson itself may have taken a while to load). Just be patient and they will play.

.

As an alternative, you can click the "Circle of Fifths" button to display our online Circle of Fifths tool (it will come up in another tab or window). Just set the "1" to the chord we're playing in and you will be able to read what each of the other chords in the key are.

.

Each page in the Worksheet booklet contains the instructions for practicing the Chord Progressions. The instructions are:
